Stories – Brought to Life is a limited-time immersive art exhibition in London created by FRAMELESS in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery. Inspired by portraits from the Gallery’s Collection, the experience invites visitors inside the stories of some of the world’s most iconic cultural figures.
Through a blend of animation, photography, music and powerful storytelling, the 15-minute residency transforms FRAMELESS’ Blank Canvas Gallery into a cinematic journey through the lives and legacies of Queen Elizabeth II, Nelson Mandela, William Shakespeare, Amy Winehouse and Malala Yousafzai.
The residency sits alongside FRAMELESS’ four permanent immersive galleries, where visitors can explore 42+ reimagined masterpieces by artists including Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Salvador Dalí and Rembrandt.
Together, the experience offers a unique after-hours journey through iconic art, portraiture and storytelling, all brought to life through cutting-edge projection, sound and digital technology.

In partnership with the National Portrait Gallery, this residency draws on one of the world’s most important collections of portraits to bring history to life in new and unexpected ways.
The National Portrait Gallery tells the story of Britain through the people who have shaped it. Spanning six centuries, its Collection reveals the personal stories behind cultural icons, national figures and influential voices, from well-known names to those less widely recognised.
At the heart of the Gallery’s work is a belief in the power of portraiture to connect people across time. By bringing these stories into an immersive setting, Stories – Brought to Life offers a new way to experience portraiture, combining art, history and storytelling.
